It's so annoying to read one and then a few years later when the next one comes out, you have to go back and re-read the first. So time consuming!

I've given up on A Wrinkle in Time, Gemma Doyle, The Clique, The Immortals (Alyson Noel), Private, The Echorium Sequence, A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Hollow, and Bite Me. Any of those I should keep reading? Worth it?Laura (All the Word's a Page)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11041070102753358739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-915650377670190252.post-46607211193313498812011-07-06T09:59:30.141-04:002011-07-06T09:59:30.141-04:00@Melissa - That's not a bad thing :-) I'm ...@Melissa - That's not a bad thing :-) I'm just personally not sure when the breaking point should be.

@Karoline - I haven't heard of the Sano Ichiro series; I'll have to go research it. I've been collecting the Blue Bloods (bargain buys at Chapters) but now I'm afraid to read them, lol.

@JennyN- I think one of the ones I was talking about is a done deal for me..no more books. The other, I'm still on the fence. The OCD in me, though, feels the need to have complete collections :-p

Gaby - There really are too many other good books out there to get invested in a series if the love just isn't there, I guess.

@Alexia - That's saying a lot with JD Robb's 32 books, not to mention short stories, etc., that go along with it. I have 2 of the later books myself and have the intention to go back and start at the beginning (one of these days). I've read a Plum book & liked it, but haven't read the others yet. It feels to me like you have to make a sort of commitment initially, then like a bad boyfriend, kick 'em to the curb if they don't maintain that original attraction :-)

@JenM - One of the 2 sets I mentioned is the Sookie books. I'm not sure if it's my love for Eric that keeps me going, but I'm not willing to put them aside just yet. The other was Patricia Cornwell and I feel we may have now parted ways for good :-(Jackiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15859073970689240250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-915650377670190252.post-31532815262525915122011-07-06T00:35:44.777-04:002011-07-06T00:35:44.777-04:00I give up on series all the time. On the other hand, I have strange tastes and tend to like things others don't. For example, lots of people have gotten turned off the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I'm not tired of it yet. The last couple of books haven't been great, but they haven't been awful either, so I'm sticking with it.JenMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08381388317577838604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-915650377670190252.post-79793829655384405882011-07-05T22:19:04.019-04:002011-07-05T22:19:04.019-04:00I've given up on several series, but only afte...I've given up on several series, but only after two disappointments. Figure everyone deserves a second chance, but if the next book is just as bad, then I'm moving on to greener pastures!

Still loyal to the In Death series by JD Robb and Kim Harrison's Otherworld series, but that's about it. But there are some that I will be totally devoted to and will read each one even though it's lost some of its lustre but I'm hopeful it'll come back.

The Sano Ichiro series is one of those I am loyal to. I just love the series, but the last few books have been rather meh in my opinion.

Series I've given up?
