Teaser Tuesday - May 4, 2010

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly event hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Here is how it works:
Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share two (2 or 3) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Remember to show the title & author, too, so that others can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week, my teaser comes from The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom:

"Hoh! He calls me his daughter, and all the time he's got me working down in the kitchen house! 'So if I die, do I go in the ground next to Miss Sally, or do you put me in the ground down by the quarters?' " (page 75)

That's a good question. But do you really care if you are dead?

Thanks for stopping by my teaser.

Thanks, Nina! If you like historical fiction, this is (so far) an excellent book that discusses slavery.

Miranda - This character definitely cares. Her father is white and her mother was black. The story takes place in the late 1700's, so very relevant question for her. And I already stopped by to read your teaser. Lover Mine sounds great from all I've heard. Hope you enjoy :-)

Great teaser! This sounds like a book that examines some important and interesting issues. I'll definitely be looking into this one!

If you're interested, you can check out my teaser. =)

Have a great day!

Hmm, sounds like a daughter he may not be proud of or that he has so many he has sent her to this area. I feel bad for her, she doesn't know where she stands. Great teaser!

I have a teaser up if you would like to stop by. :)
