Not having read If I Stay, I wasn't sure how this story would play out for me. I quickly found out that it really didn't matter that I hadn't read the first book; the way this story was presented had me (and kept me) completely engrossed. If it hadn't been for a darned power outage on the day I started reading Where She Went, I would have had this book consumed in one sitting (and seriously, it wasn't for my lack of trying with candles, a book light, and a flash light...but it was just too dark :-p)

The best part of this story, for me, was Adam's introspection. He knows what sets him off, he realizes he needs to do something about it, but can't quite grasp the ability to fix all that has happened to him emotionally/mentally
since he and Mia parted ways. He feels the pressures of his still new found stardom, but can't cope with what others would consider a dream come true. I felt for him, I really did, but at times wanted to give him a shake and tell him to snap out of it! In reality, when your world feels like its completely fallen apart, it is hard to just move on.

The tidbits of his past relationship with Mia slowly make you appreciate what Adam has lost. As he meets her again and unsettled feelings come to the surface, you want Adam to find the peace he needs in order to continue living. I'm not sure how much I agreed with the ending; I had been hoping for something different after the scene on the bridge. But it isn't a bad ending in the least.

I loved the pace and flow of Gayle Foreman's writing. When you reach the end and realize that most of what's happened in the book encompassed a single twenty four hour period, it seems unreal. I really loved this book and I'm anxious now to find the time to read If I Stay. I may just have to re-read Where She Went, to see if I gain a new perspective after reading them in proper order. Where She Went was a very quick, enjoyable read!

Yes, this book is sooo good! I'm trying to remember the bridge part now, it's amazing how Gayle makes these chracters come alive & you become so involved. Did you need kleenex too?
