Review: Winter's Passage by Julia Kagawa

Meghan Chase used to be an ordinary girl...until she discovered that she is really a faery princess. After escaping from the clutches of the deadly Iron fey, Meghan must follow through on her promise to return to the equally dangerous Winter Court with her forbidden love, Prince Ash. But first, Meghan has one request: that they visit Puck--Meghan's best friend and servant of her father, King Oberon--who was gravely injured defending Meghan from the Iron Fey.

Yet Meghan and Ash's detour does not go unnoticed. They have caught the attention of an ancient, powerful hunter--a foe that even Ash may not be able to defeat....

An eBook exclusive story from Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series.

Available at Harlequin, Amazon

Being a short story, I guess it's okay for me to write a short review, right?  Let's see how that works out, as I can, at times, tend to be verbose :-p

Reading this e-book right after The Iron King, I was surprised that it dealt with the voyage to the Winter Court. I thought for sure that would be an integral part of The Iron
Daughter. I was wrong. What struck me with this tale was that within the few short pages (less than 60), Julie Kagawa manages to fill the reader in with enough back story to understand what is happening in the present. It didn't feel overly repetitious, which can be problematic at times, especially in a story with so few words. I think this part was really well done.

While I wasn't entirely enthralled with The Iron King, I feel this is a series that is growing on me as the characters become more 'alive'. I enjoyed this fast paced addition that bridges the two books, and feel it set me in the right frame of mind to continue on into The Iron Daughter. While not an absolute must read, I think it was a nice way to see more of the characters involved and help the overall adventure gain more depth.

I think you'll really like it, when you finally get the chance to read it :-)

I think I liked what was after them most in this short story. :) I too wasn't taken with Iron King like so many others, but there was something about this series that I want to keep going with it. I don't know what the draw was yet. :) Great review.
